Dangar Brings Aerospace Engineering Precision to DiMora's $2 Million Automobile

Advanced techniques used to form high-strength, low-weight structures from exotic materials

Newbury Park, California - February 2, 2009 - DiMora Motorcar announced today that Dangar Engineering and Manufacturing is the latest Technology Partner to add its expertise to the development and production of the Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan.

"Dangar is the go-to company for precision engineering of exotic materials," noted DiMora Motorcar Founder Alfred DiMora. "You will find their parts on NASA’s remotely-piloted flying wing that reached over 96,000 feet on solar power alone. Their engineering and manufacturing have been critical to development programs ranging from the Boeing 777 to the Lockheed Joint Strike Fighter. Now you can add the Natalia to that list."

While Dangar's participation in the Natalia program will extend to the entire vehicle, their initial work is concentrated on engineering the structure that supports the roof, which is made largely of AGP Vario Plus-Sky glass. To help minimize weight while making the Natalia exceptionally strong, DiMora is building many of the automobile's structural components out of a fire-resistant inorganic fiber made largely from lava rock.

"This new material requires special tooling," said Jimmy Sechrest, Chief of Composites Manufacturing for DiMora Motorcar. "Dangar's extensive experience in engineering structures using other advanced materials makes them the ideal partner to address this challenge."

When Dangar completes the engineering, the production of the roof structure will be accomplished by another Technology Partner of DiMora Motorcar, Robot-Racing of Lancaster, Massachusetts.

"Since our founding 20 years ago, we have continually sought to have great people using the best systems and equipment in the world for converting CAD data into close-tolerance molds and parts of any size," said Dangar Engineering Founder and President Dan Woods. "From our CATIA engineering workstations and 5-axis bridge mill to our very large scale coordinate measuring machine and laser calibration systems, we understand precision fabrication and have the ISO 9002 compliance records and NIST traceability to prove it. We are delighted to have this opportunity to help create the technological wonder that will be the Natalia SLS 2."

About DiMora Motorcar
Based in Palm Springs, California, DiMora Motorcar crafts automobiles designed to exceed expectations for safety, performance, technology, ecology, beauty, comfort, and luxury. We are the first to reveal the design, production, and testing of our automobiles via the Internet so that people around the world can learn about--and participate in--the process.

The founder, CEO, and driving force behind DiMora Motorcar, Alfred J. DiMora, produced two of America's finest luxury automobiles, the Clenet (as owner) and the Sceptre (as co-founder). When President Reagan declared 1986 the Centennial Year of the Gasoline-Powered Automobile, Mr. DiMora's Clenet was selected as the Official Centennial Car. As a result, he and the Clenet were honored at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Michigan. He also founded Starbridge Systems, Inc., where he developed the FPGA supercomputer. Using his technological and automotive backgrounds, Alfred DiMora blends the two worlds together to create this new experience in automotive history, the Natalia SLS 2.
