As Director of Sponsorship Development, Brad Stevens works closely with DiMora Motorcar executives to identify qualified sponsorship candidates to participate in DMC development projects.
A native Texan, Mr. Stevens has enjoyed a career in sales and marketing since he could pull a little red wagon, literally. And having been born into an entertainment family, he made his professional stage debut at the age of five. At eleven, he began to study magic as a performing art. He teamed with his younger brother to create a professional magic act performing for audiences of all demographics in myriad venues. His fascination with how magic affects the human mind eventually evolved into the study and performance of theatrical hypnosis. Through these childhood experiences, he learned the value of presentation and showmanship in marketing.
Mr. Stevens attended Pepperdine University in Malibu California under a full tuition music scholarship where he further developed his talent for jazz trombone. He transferred to the University of Texas at El Paso to major in business administration and marketing. While attending UTEP, he was asked to be a builder representative for a premier west Texas homebuilder, Best Brand Homes, where at age 18 he became perhaps the youngest new home sales representative in the state to successfully market several new homes.
With real estate in his blood, Mr. Stevens was invited to be a "gunfighter" for land investor/developers Miller of Texas, investor/partners with Bass Brothers Enterprises of Fort Worth. Miller of Texas later became RMB Realty, real estate partners with the Robert M. Bass Group. While working with the Bass partnerships, Mr. Stevens assisted with all aspects of partnership acquisitions, asset management, and dispositions. His responsibilities ranged from acquisition and development feasibility analysis, investor presentations, marketing package design and creation, and Bass equity partner liaison, to adding value to partnership real estate assets through the zoning and development process. While acting as zoning point man for Lakeview, a $100 million, 1500 acre mixed-use development in Denton County, Mr. Stevens worked closely with all parties including principals, zoning attorneys, citizen groups, governmental entities, public and private engineers and land planners to successfully persuade Denton Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council members to support the Lakeview development plan. And while helping oversee asset management in existing markets, Mr. Stevens assisted with expansion into new markets including the acquisition of a 2,000 acre mixed-use tract in Roseville, California. The partnership's investment portfolio was valued in excess of $500 million.
Mr. Stevens went on to serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for K-M Construction and Federal Building Services, two of the Southwest's oldest and most respected construction companies. His responsibilities included marketing commercial and residential renovation services primarily throughout northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. He also acted as marketing consultant for Western Firearms, a federally licensed firearms dealer marketing to regional law enforcement, and Juniper Development, a residential real estate development company, both wholly-owned subsidiaries of K-M. Western Firearms holds the distinction of being the first firearms dealer in the US to fully deploy Advanced Taser non-lethal weapons technology to a major metropolitan law enforcement agency, the Albuquerque Police Department.
For two years prior to joining DiMora Motorcar, Mr. Stevens formed and managed BPS Group, a web-based specialty financial services company dedicated to assisting consumers in becoming educated regarding their rights and remedies under federal consumer protection law. With BPS Group, Mr. Stevens further utilized and demonstrated his marketing creativity by writing, producing, directing, and acting as spokesperson and voice-over artist for a national TV and radio ad campaign. He developed and implemented a long-term, closed-loop, opt-in email communications program. He also wrote the textual content and designed the layout—including visual imagery, background music, and voice-overs—for inclusion in the company's website.
Mr. Stevens also volunteers as a marketing and communications consultant to the Media Coordinator for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, New Mexico. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. In this capacity, his contributions include writing for the state-wide newsletter, photographing subjects, and assisting with design for regional awareness campaigns via print and billboard media. Additionally, Mr. Stevens assists with NAMI fundraising and legislative initiatives by communicating with New Mexico state legislators and the offices of Governor Bill Richardson and US Senator Pete Domenici.
